On Thursday, May 29, 2025, PCFJ published a groundbreaking report documenting the evolution of women’s election to and participation in the Pennsylvania General Assembly over the past century. Prepared for PCFJ by Dr. Joel Fishman, Ph.D., M.L.S., the report provides an in-depth account of milestones that have shaped women’s representation in state government, beginning with the election of the first eight women to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1922.
The report was shared with legislative leaders in both the Pennsylvania Senate and House of Representatives. It celebrates the remarkable strides made by women in the General Assembly while also underscoring the need for continued, intentional progress. PCFJ remains committed to advancing that very goal.
